His time in the Word vs hers…

Your time in the Word might look like 10 different highlighters, tenderly turning each page as you read, a cozy atmosphere, worship music softly playing in the background and a warm cup of coffee…

His time in the Word might look like clicking open the Bible app on his phone and scrolling through a passage.

Your time spent studying God’s Word is not any more “holy” and his time is not any less meaningful.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

HOW you read Scripture does not matter…but the fact that you simply READ IT.

Your husband is not any “less holy” than you, because of his “lack of frills”.

In fact, his “lack of frills” probably speaks to the innate way his Creator knit him together to simply recognize a problem and want to solve it. For example- if he is busy and feels as though he is not spending enough time in the Word; problem solved- why not download the app on his phone, which stays with him everywhere that he goes. There was a problem, he came up with a solution.

Similarly, women tend to love taking time to “beautify a place” to tend to it and make it cozy…the Creator placed that within us. We are nurturers by nature and in taking time to draw beauty out of whatever given scenario we are in, we are being a direct reflection of the One who created us.

Don’t be  so critical of your husbands time spent with God and HOW he spends his time with God, simply because it’s different to you. Both ways are honoring to the Lord. Both ways will equip us as needed. Both ways allow the Holy Spirit to move in our lives.

Praise God for masculine men and feminine women, and for the glorification of the Father that is the result.

The enemy would love for you to constantly be critical of your husband. Comparison of his walk with the Lord to yours is being critical. It’s a trap. Don’t fall for it.
