“Night terrors” and your children…how to approach it biblically.

Hey Mama…

“Night terrors” are not “a normal stage of childhood development”. Night terrors are demonic attacks. The enemy just seeking to harass and distress.

Stop accepting what the world and “professionals” deem as “normal”, as YOUR normal…

When the enemy seeks to attack, he usually targets the youngest ones in the family first, he wants to harass them, because they are the most vulnerable.

I remember when we were pregnant with our first baby, a well-meaning older lady told us “just you wait, that stage they go through of developmental night terrors, it’ll freak you out-but it’s normal…”

I reject that.

I know the authority that Christ has given me…and by God’s grace, I will walk in that.

I do not walk in the authority of man and what they say “should be.”

The first time my daughter had what the people would call a “night terror”…you better believe I grabbed my Bible, went into that room, laid hands on her and prayed out loud over her, asking the Holy Spirit to be her defender and commanding anything seeking to harass her, to go. I opened my Bible and I read Psalm 91 out loud. I left worship music playing softly by her bed…my baby girl went right to sleep and has never experienced a “night terror” like that again.

The Holy Spirit was her comforter and defender.

Know your authority in Christ. You and your husband are the gatekeepers to your home…over your children’s lives. The enemy might seek to disrupt and harass, but we already know who wins the battle.

“You are from God and have overcome them, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

I love to take a passage of Scripture like the one below, and whoever you are praying for, place their name in there.

So if I took one of my children’s names and did this, it would look something like…“Brissa who dwells in the shelter of the most High, will abide in the shadow of the almighty…”

Psalm 91

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his pinions,
 and under his wings you will find refuge;
 his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

You will not fear the terror of the night,
 nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

You will only look with your eyes
and see the recompense of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place— the Most High, who is my refuge— no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent.

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.

On their hands they will bear you up,
 lest you strike your foot against a stone.

You will tread on the lion and the adder;
 the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;
 I will protect him, because he knows my name.

When he calls to me, I will answer him;
 I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.

With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
