”Good” does not mean it’s of God

Eve rationalized taking a bite of the fruit by thinking it would be a “good” thing. It would give her wisdom…but no matter how she rationalized it, she went against God’s Word.

I’ve heard people say “we lived together before marriage and we’re now married (insert amount of years) so it turned out just fine for us…”

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality.” 1 Thessalonians 4:3

No matter how you rationalize it, you are going against God’s Word.

I’ve heard people say “I watch horror movies and nothing ever happens to me…it’s just fun entertainment…”

“Abstain from every form of evil.”

1 Thessalonians 5:22

No matter how you rationalize it, you are going against God’s Word.

I’ve heard people say “I speak positive affirmations and practice manifesting and it works. Good things come to me, it’s absolutely God blessing me.”

“When you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD…” Deuteronomy 18:9-12

No matter how you rationalize it, you are going against God’s Word.

The enemy’s schemes are so devious, he can cause us to believe that because something does not have an inherently “bad” result, it must be “OK”. But give him a “foothold” and you give him legal rights to wreak havoc in your life.

Sin does not always “feel bad” when you are partaking…in fact, often times it is pleasurable to your flesh. It feels good in the moment and you most likely won’t see the repercussions until further down the line…

“There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death.”

Proverbs 14:12

We should not make decisions based on what “we think is good and OK”. We make decisions according to God’s Word- which never changes. HE knows best.

By “people” I mean those who call themselves Christians.
